Think about this…

Would you rather have a very seasoned, experienced smart, intelligent and skillful employee but very bad working attitude or an employee who is fresh from school, green but possesses a very good working attitude?

The answer may be very clear.

However, we can only tell the working attitude of a new employee during his or her probation period.

Open our eyes during a new employee’s probation period, throw him or her some scenarios during this period, see how he or she reacts.

It’s okay to allow the new employee to make mistake, but the same mistake should not be made twice.

Observe if this new employee do ask questions during the probation period or he or she would rather act smart in front of you and then make mistake to be covered up later.

The first 3 work days would be rough gauge of his or her attitude, 3 weeks would be good enough gauge, and 3 months would be certain if this employee should be your confirmed employee going forward whom you can rely upon to deserve your pay cheque.
