Tips To An Effective Meeting

You are in a meeting.
The meeting appears to be continuing without signs of ending, and participants seem getting impatient !
This is common when someone is dominating the meeting, or when 2 participants are engaged in some form of arguments with no sign of going any where.
Some useful tips to share after having participated in many corporate meetings in the past :
1. Always give ample notice to all participants of a meeting which is coming up, with an Agenda of topics to be discussed, and if possible, assign Person In-Charge to lead certain topics.
2. Write the Agenda on the White Board before start of the meeting.
3. You stand in front of the White Board to jot down some important resolutions of the meeting relating to the particular topic of discussion as a form of “minutes”.
4. When 2 parties are engaged in an argument, write down each party’s viewpoints on the White Board, and then open to the floor for their views one at a time. Do not allow the original parties to Continue their arguments once you have collected their viewpoints on the WhiteBoard. Eliminate point by point, until you reach consensus of final point left. Issue resolved by the Meeting.
5. Do not procrastinate as soon as all agenda topics have been discussed and resolved. Dissolve the meeting immediately.
