This group is so used to their ways of doing things all this while and at their relatively higher pay, will be most reluctant to change their “old” skill set and their mindset to accept a lower pay for those skills which they are just at elementary stage.
Acknowledge that you need to Change by learning new and relevant knowledge, and be willing to “bend” to accept a lower pay range this time of the year, if you are retrenched and are looking for new jobs.
Better still, take this opportunity to enter into entrepreneurship by offering assistance using your in-depth industry-specific experience to younger ones, so that they are able to use new technology to absorb your experience to come up with a new offering to the same industry.
This may be your best option – coaching the younger entrepreneurs using your years of experiences but leveraging on the better IT knowledge of these younger ones to deliver the same services in a better twist to the same end customers.
